These are the values that define our uniqueness.
Moral Integrity
The work of the Church requires competence, compatibility, convictions, and character. The foundation of our work is the moral integrity of the members and servants of the church, a crucial aspect of character that is at the heart of true faith. A true believer is a born-again person who lives according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh, always seeking to maintain a high moral standard without compromises or deviations in character. In the event that a believer sins, they are encouraged to repent and assisted towards restoration.
The Priority of Family
In a fast-paced society, overcrowded and drowning in a spirit of value inversion, family is often sacrificed for the sake of career, wealth, or even ministry work. We believe, according to Scripture, that a person's priorities should be: 1. God; 2. Family; 3. Work/Ministry.
Due to sin and the earthly nature that constantly seeks to distort divine values and priorities, the believer is in a constant struggle to understand and maintain these priorities. While believers typically acknowledge the supreme place God should occupy in their lives, they often face challenges in prioritizing their families. We want to support them in this journey. Therefore, in our churches, we will fight together to maintain the family as a priority above other things and human temptations.
Unity in Absolutes and Diversity in Opinions
We Fight for Absolutes, Not for Convictions and Opinions. We fight for the absolutes and remain united in these fundamental teachings of the faith. However, we recognize that there are believers and churches who may hold different convictions and opinions on non-essential matters, and we respect these differences (the autonomy of the church).
Restoring the Sinner
God's purpose, from the Fall as described in Genesis 3 to the return of Christ, is clearly revealed in Scripture, especially in the New Testament, and it is the recovery of the lost. Therefore, even Jesus offers several parables that demonstrate His desire to restore the lost (Luke 15; 19:9). For this reason, in VCE, we are committed to doing everything in our power to ensure that the lost find their way to Christ. Just as we seek to call the unbelievers to salvation, we also seek to call the prodigal sons to repentance, ensuring that we do not tolerate sin but take all necessary measures (warning, discipline, exclusion, restoration) for the recovery of the sinner.
Teamwork
Starting with the Trinity, where each person of the Godhead has a well-established role/function, continuing with the disciples who were sent out two by two, and then with the mission teams of the New Testament, where apostles and missionaries always worked in teams – the model of task delegation is supported in Scripture.
Sacrificial generosity
We share with others everything that God has given us (2 Corinthians 9:6).
We believe in the words of Jesus, spoken in the context of generosity: "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Luke 6:38). Therefore, we encourage and practice generosity, and not just in any way! David once said, "I will not offer to the Lord that which costs me nothing!" (2 Samuel 24:24). Likewise, our sacrifices will be in various areas: financially, in serving with our gifts and time, various resources, etc.
Cultural relevance
The message of the Gospel has always been presented in culturally relevant forms to the historical and social context in which it was shared. To the Greeks, the apostles spoke in one way, and to the Jews in another, not for the sake of relevance, but to fulfill the purpose of their work. Therefore, without compromising the essence of the truth of Scripture, we will seek to be relevant, so that we can communicate the biblical message in a way that people can understand, grasp its meaning, and apply it to their lives. Thus, the emphasis of our church will be contemporary, because God has called us to serve this generation.
